I also "fry" as little as possible since I hate the mess, and it seems like a waste of oil (then what to do with that oil) for what little we would fry. Sounds like you're making a donut/cream puff - puffy, airy, filled with cream, just not cutting the top off : ) Tho cream puffs don't have yeast in them, at least not the recipe I looked at.
